4TH ANNUAL ‘PASS-THE-TORCH’ 5K/10K RUN & PEACHTREE QUALIFIER; A Global Impact Project event.
Currently in its 4th year running the “Pass-The-Torch 5K/10k Run & Peachtree Qualifier “is an event whose proceeds go towards the allay disparities in education faced by the girl child in rural Kenya by offering undergraduate academic scholarships. Saturday October 18th, 2014 was the day that the 4th Annual run was held at the Historic grant park in Atlanta, Georgia. Runners and walkers from various parts of the world were represented and came out to support the worthy cause. Beta Alpha Psi in all their solidarity Once again were there to volunteer and cheer on the runners and the walkers, the individuals, the families and the corporate teams. These scholarships are offered under the Global Impact Project (GIP), collaboration between Georgia State University’s J. Mack Robinson College of Business’ Beta Alpha Psi and Imbako Public Health. The Global Impact Project (GIP) is an initiative that strives to allay disparities in access to education faced by women in rural Kenya. Founded in 2009, by Georgia State University’s Beta Alpha Psi, together with Imbako Public Health, to date under the GIP umbrella, 13 girls from rural Kenya have been awarded undergraduate education scholarships. The scholarships cover the full tuition for the entire respective academic programs, and also award a stipend for textbooks towards the curriculum. The GIP is an initiative that to date has made significant steps towards allaying disparities in education faced by the girl child in rural and resource-poor settings in Kenya. Starting off with a dream to send just one more girl to school, in a span of 4 years, the initiative has enabled 20 girls form rural Kenya to be afforded undergraduate education. The “Pass-The-Torch 5K/10k Run & Peachtree Qualifier “ was a great event that brought together people to support this worthy cause!
