Books for Africa, a US-based NGO dedicated to helping end the book famine in Africa, has donated a 40-foot container of books to Imbako Public Health. Imbako was informed of the news and received the official letter of collaboration in November, 2010. The books are being housed in a 40-foot container at a Smyrna, Ga. warehouse waiting on the non-profit organization Imbako Public Health to raise $8,000 in shipping costs.
The project aims to create awareness of environmental hazards and appreciation of the physical environment. One of Kenya’s chief concerns is deforestation. At present, less than one quarter of the land is forested, and an estimated 19 square miles is lost to deforestation annually.
